AT&T Cutting $6 Billion in Operational Costs-Why it Matters to You.

Why does it matter that AT&T is cutting $6 billion in operational costs matter to you and your business? I know cell phones likely are not your top priority and the inner workings of the cell phone carriers fall even lower on the list of things you worry or care about. This is why it matters to your company.

AT&T is closing an additional 320 corporate run stores, this comes on top of the 250 closed earlier this year. This now means that the majority of AT&T branded stores are indirect dealers, the the majority being a single company. Why this matters: we see feature stacking and higher priced plans when dealing with these stores.Their employees are paid less than a corporate employee and adding the features and higher priced plans increase their commissions.

On a customer service side, AT&T has been shutting down departments since COVID began. They have also outsourced much of their call centers. It has not been usual for us to call a support line and have it be no longer in service. We have also had numerous experiences where we have to tell the agent what needs to be done and how to do it since they aren’t properly trained or lack the knowledge.

This is not about trashing AT&T, this is simply making you aware that it is going to be even more important to have someone working with and for you to handle your account with these changes being put into place.
